Shimla, Oct. 30 -- The Centre has sanctioned a Rs 1,422 crore project aimed at enhancing health infrastructure across Himachal Pradesh, with financial support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan said today.
The funding includes Rs 1,138 crore as external assistance and Rs 284 crore as the state's contribution.
Under the project, key medical institutions in Hamirpur, Nahan, Mandi, Tanda, Chamba and IGMC Shimla will be upgraded and modernised.
Of the total allocation, Rs 650 crore has been earmarked for infrastructure development, including Rs 300 crore dedicated to establishing a state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Hamirpur.
