Shillong, May 1 -- The self-enumeration phase for the much-awaited Census 2027 kicked off in Meghalaya on Friday, marking a major milestone in India's first fully digital census exercise.

Governor CH Vijayashankar launched the initiative at the Lok Bhavan, Shillong, by successfully completing his self-enumeration through the online census portal. Director of Census Operations, Meghalaya, Biswajit Pegu, Joint Director, Directorate of Census Operations, Meghalaya, Subhasish Chatterjee, Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills district, R.M.Kurbah and others were present on the occasion.
