Prithviraj SinghDehradun, April 8 -- Census 2027 will take off in Uttarakhand on April 25, coinciding with similar exercise in other parts of India. This will be the first census in India to allow self-enumeration by the citizens as the first phase will focus on counting of houses for a month from April 25 to May 24.
Uttarakhand Director Census Operations Eva Ashish Srivastava informed on Wednesday that following initiation by the Centre, the first phase of Census-2027 involving House Listing Operation (HLO) will begin from April 24, 2026.
The day will mark the beginning of the country's largest administrative and statistical exercise.
