New Delhi, July 24 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Friday approved a Rs 1,264-crore railway capacity expansion project to construct the third and fourth rail lines on the Ballari-Guntakal section spanning Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, with the Centre saying the project will enhance freight movement, improve passenger services and support economic growth in the region.
Announcing the decision after the meeting of the Cabinet, union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said the project, estimated to cost approximately Rs 1,264 crore, is scheduled for completion by 2028-29.
