New Delhi, July 1 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved the construction of the 117.7-km Kanpur-Kabrai access-controlled Greenfield Highway in Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 7,145.14 crore, paving the way for a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity, reducing travel time and boosting economic activity across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The project, a key segment of the proposed Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor under the National Highways (Original) Programme, will be developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Toll mode.
