New Delhi, July 15 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved the construction of a 46.039-km six-lane Greenfield Elevated Corridor connecting National Highway-19 (NH-19) with the Varanasi Ring Road along the River Ganga in Uttar Pradesh at a total capital cost of Rs 14,447.64 crore, in a major push to decongest Varanasi and strengthen its transport infrastructure.
Announcing the decision after the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said the project would create a high-speed access-controlled corridor linking NH-19 with the Varanasi Ring Road while providing riverbank connectivity along the Ganga.
