New Delhi, March 17 -- A Special CBI Court in Visakhapatnam has sentenced a former Clerk-cum-Cashier of Andhra Bank and his aide to five years of imprisonment in connection with a bank loan fraud case.
The court sentenced Vempadapu Santhoshi Ramu, the then Clerk-cum-Cashier of Andhra Bank, Cheepurupalli branch in Vizianagaram district (now dismissed from service), along with a private individual, Mahanthi Ramana of Nadipaina Peta. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,71,42,000 on the accused.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered the case in 2018 against the accused. It was alleged that Vempadapu Santhoshi Ramu, in collusion with Mahanthi Ramana, committed criminal breach of trust and misappropriated an amount of Rs 1,...
