Mumbai, Sept. 29 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Sandeep Mistry, a close associate of fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi, in Dubai and brought him to Mumbai for further investigation in the Punjab National Bank fraud case.
Mistry is expected to be produced before the special court hearing of the case, where the CBI is likely to seek his custody for custodial interrogation.
Mistry served as a director of Fancy Creations Ltd., a Hong Kong based company associated with Modi. The Enforcement Directorate has recently initiated proceedings seeking to declare Mistry a fugitive economic offender, which could allow the agency to confiscate assets held by him in India and abroad.
