New Delhi, May 22 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday said it has arrested an Assistant Commissioner of the Food & Supply Department, Asian Market, Pushp Vihar, New Delhi, in a bribery case.

The accused has been identified as Vinod Kumar. The CBI registered the case against Kumar on May 20.

According to the agency, Kumar allegedly demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 100 per ration card for the allotment/distribution of 475 ration cards.

"It was further alleged that approximately 120 ration cards were proposed to be allotted to each nearby shop, including that of the complainant. Accordingly, the total demanded amount from the complainant came to around Rs 12,000," a CBI official said.
