Mumbai, Aug. 28 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an IRS officer serving as Additional Commissioner of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Raigad, a GST Superintendent and a private person in an alleged Rs 40 lakh bribery case.

The accused have been identified as Vinay Kumar Kantheti, Additional Commissioner, CGST Raigad, and 2009-batch IRS officer; Rakesh Kumar Sinha, Superintendent, GST, Raigad; and private person Narinder Rajput.

The CBI had registered a case against Sinha following allegations that he demanded Rs 1.50 crore from the complainant for settling a GST/royalty matter involving a stone-quarrying firm. The alleged demand was later negotiated down to Rs 40 lakh.
