New Delhi, Jan. 30 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced on Friday that it has arrested one Tanmoy Mirdha, an accused in a Rs 2 crore chit fund scam case, who was absconding .

The CBI registered had the case in 2020 following directions from the Supreme Court to investigate chit fund-related cases in West Bengal and Odisha.

The accused, a Director of Express Cultivation Limited, Kolkata, along with others, allegedly defrauded the public by collecting approximately Rs 2.1 crore under the pretext of investment and subsequently misappropriating the funds.

After completing the investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet in 2022. The accused did not join the investigation and was declared an absconder.
