London, Jan. 23 -- Manchester United said on Thursday that midfielder Casemiro will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

"Casemiro will leave Manchester United this summer, upon the expiry of his contract," Manchester United said in a statement on Thursday.

"The legendary midfielder has enjoyed four seasons at the club, playing 146 games and scoring 21 goals to date," the statement added.

The 33-year-old joined United from Real Madrid for 70 million pounds in 2022 and has played a key role for the club.

He scored the opening goal in Manchester United's 2023 Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle, as United finished third in the Premier League.
