New Delhi, Oct. 29 -- Doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on Wednesday spoke about a new kind of eye injury caused by firecrackers after Diwali this year.

"A disturbing trend this year has been the emergence of severe chemical burn-like injuries linked to carbide-based firecrackers," said experts while speaking about the rise of this new hazard during a press conference in New Delhi.

Out of the total 190 cases reported this year, 18-20 were due to carbide guns, stated eye experts from the Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi.
