New Delhi, March 16 -- The Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) has issued a series of directives to State Adoption Resource Agencies across the country, stressing strict adherence to adoption procedures, preservation of adoptee records and protection of children's identity under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and the Adoption Regulations, 2022.
The move, conveyed through three Office Memorandums by the statutory body under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, aims to reinforce compliance in declaring children legally free for adoption, ensure long-term safekeeping of records to facilitate root searches by adoptees, and mandate strict confidentiality regarding the identity o...
