Kalaburagi, July 8 -- A City Armed Reserve (CAR) constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon inside a police van deployed at the busy Jagat Circle in Kalaburagi on Wednesday, triggering a probe by the city police.
The deceased was identified as Shivakumar, a constable attached to the City Armed Reserve unit. He was on duty when the incident occurred.
According to police, the gunshot from the police van alerted fellow personnel stationed nearby. They rushed to the vehicle and found the constable critically injured. He succumbed to the bullet injury before he could be shifted for treatment.
