New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has expanded the area covered under its dust pollution enforcement framework, said officials from the pollution watchdog on Tuesday. More cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) can now take legal action against construction sites that violate air pollution norms.
The move, notified through an amendment to Direction No. 86 issued on August 3, extends powers beyond Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Sonipat to include Manesar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, Meerut, Alwar, Bharatpur, Bhiwadi, and Neemrana.
