Kolkata, June 24 -- The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday rejected Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee's plea for an urgent hearing regarding his request to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Justice Sougata Bhattacharyya said that the matter would come up through the normal judicial process and clarified that an immediate hearing would not be possible.

Earlier on Tuesday, Banerjee, Trinamool Congress national general secretary, had drawn the court's attention and sought an expedited hearing of the matter.

According to initial information, he has requested permission to travel abroad for seven days for treatment related to an eye condition.
