Kolkata, Sept. 10 -- The proposed Trinamool Congress meeting at Mahesh in Hooghly, scheduled for Friday and to be attended by former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, has been put on hold after the Calcutta High Court asked the organisers to defer the programme.

A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Ghuge is scheduled to hear the matter at noon on Friday.

The development came after the state challenged an order of Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, who had earlier on Thursday allowed the Kalighat Trinamool Congress to hold the meeting at the Jagannathdev Snanpindi Maidan in Mahesh, subject to certain conditions.
