Kolkata, Feb. 27 -- Former School Service Commission official Shanti Prasad Sinha was granted bail by the Calcutta High Court on Friday in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

With the bail, Sinha is now set to be released from prison after four years. He has been in judicial custody since 2022 in connection with the alleged school recruitment scam.

A single judge bench of Justice Joy Sengupta allowed Sinha's bail plea, subject to strict conditions. The court directed his release on a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh.

He has been barred from leaving his local area and has been asked to surrender his passport, effectively restricting any foreign travel.
