Kolkata, Aug. 19 -- The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday deferred the hearing of Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee's petition challenging the freezing of his personal bank account.
Justice Krishna Rao has directed the bank authorities to submit a report on Thursday, when the court will hear Banerjee's plea.
Banerjee's lawyer, Ayan Bhattacharya, had moved the matter before Justice Rao on Monday, seeking an urgent hearing.
He told the court that Banerjee was scheduled to travel abroad for medical treatment and that his personal bank account had been frozen shortly before the proposed trip.
The lawyer claimed that the bank had not informed Banerjee of the reason for freezing the account.
