Kolkata, Aug. 13 -- The Calcutta High Court transferred a plea filed by absconding Birbhum stone trader Tulu Mondal challenging an arrest warrant against him to another bench, after Justice Kaushik Chanda recused himself from hearing the matter on Thursday.

Justice Chanda said Mondal had already approached another bench of the High Court with a related plea and that all his applications should be heard by the same bench.

The matter has now been placed before the bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya.

Mondal had first approached Justice Bhattacharyya seeking protection from arrest.

He later moved the court challenging the arrest warrant issued against him and sought an urgent hearing before Justice Chanda on Thursday.
