Kolkata, Aug. 20 -- The Calcutta High Court extended its interim stay on the demolition of Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee's party office at Amtala in South 24 Parganas on Thursday.
The court said the office cannot be demolished until September 18, while the case will be heard again on September 8.
The stay was imposed after a complaint was lodged by one Sushanta Mondal on May 17, alleging that the office had been constructed illegally.
Acting on the complaint, the administration began taking steps against the structure.
A portion of the office was demolished on July 18, and further demolition work began the following day.
The High Court had subsequently held a special sitting on a Sunday and stayed the demolition.
