Kolkata, June 8 -- Calcutta High Court on Monday rejected former state sports minister Aroop Biswas's petition seeking quick hearing his plea for interim protection against arrest in connection with the chaos related to Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi's appearance at the Salt Lake Stadium on December 13 last year.

Earlier in the day, Biswas skipped the summons from the police to appear before the officers of the Bidhannagar south police station by 11 a.m.

The single bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharya of Calcutta High Court, before which the former sports minister had moved the petition seeking an emergency hearing on granting him interim protection from arrest, rejected his prayer observing a quick hearing was not possible.
