Hyderabad, March 30 -- The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has flagged significant financial stress, governance deficiencies, and operational irregularities in Telangana State Public Sector Enterprises (SPSEs), according to its latest audit report for the period ended March 2023, presented to the State Legislature on Monday.

As per the report, there were 83 SPSEs in Telangana as of March 31, 2023, including 77 government companies. Of these, 16 entities were either defunct or under liquidation.

Among the 67 working enterprises, 49 (73 per cent) had not finalised their accounts for three years or more, raising concerns over transparency and financial oversight, the report stated..
