Snehal SenguptaKolkata, July 28 -- West Bengal did not have a State Health Policy and had failed to align its health planning with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, while severe shortages of doctors, specialists and paramedical staff exposed major gaps in healthcare delivery, a report published by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has revealed.
The CAG's Performance Audit on Public Health Infrastructure and Management of Health Services in West Bengal, covering the financial years 2016-17 to 2021-22, flagged deficiencies in health planning, emergency care, infrastructure, drug procurement and manpower.
