New Delhi, June 10 -- The union Cabinet on Wednesday approved Phase 2A of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, paving the way for a new 6.032-kilometre corridor connecting Koteshwar Road to Ahmedabad Airport and further expanding the city's rapidly growing urban transit network.
Announcing the decision after the Cabinet meeting, union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the project would add five stations to the metro network and significantly strengthen connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
"The union Cabinet has approved Phase 2(A) of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project with a corridor of 6.032 km and five stations, including four elevated stations and one underground station," Vaishnaw told reporters.
