New Delhi, Feb. 24 -- The union Cabinet, Tuesday approved a 3.33-kilometre metro rail extension from GIFT City to Shahpur in Gujarat at an estimated cost of Rs 1,067.35 crore.
Announcing the Cabinet decision, union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the elevated corridor will include three new stations and is scheduled for completion in approximately four years.
"This extension will significantly strengthen connectivity between Ahmedabad and the GIFT region, benefiting daily commuters as well as businesses and institutions located along the route," Vaishnaw told newsmen after the Cabinet meeting.
