Varanasi, April 27 -- A shocking incident unfolded on Sunday night in the Phulpur police station area of Varanasi, where a local businessman was beaten to death by a mob after his car allegedly hit and injured a woman, police said on Monday.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Manish Singh, who owned a small factory producing leaf plates and bowls (pattal-dona). The incident occurred when Singh was returning home from his factory, located about half a kilometer from his residence.
Soon after leaving the factory, Singh's car reportedly collided with a woman, leaving her injured. Demonstrating concern, Singh stopped his vehicle and sought help from people present at the scene to take the injured woman to a hospital.
