Krishnagar, Sept. 6 -- BSF personnel seized 89 gold biscuits weighing 11.282 kg and valued at over Rs 17.40 crore along the India-Bangladesh border in Nadia and arrested a Bangladeshi national in connection with the attempted smuggling of the consignment.

The seizure was made by the 32 Battalion in the Halderpara Border Outpost area late on Saturday night. According to BSF sources, smugglers on the Bangladesh side attempted to use the cover of darkness to push the consignment into India by throwing a bundle over the barbed-wire fencing.

Alert BSF personnel detected the movement and immediately launched a chase, eventually apprehending one of the alleged smugglers. The bundle recovered during the operation contained 89 gold biscuits.
