Chandigarh, July 6 -- Amritsar Commissionerate Police on Monday claimed a breakthrough by arresting two youths allegedly involved in the recent firing outside the premises of a local businessman who had reportedly been receiving extortion threats.

Police officials said the investigation was initiated on their own despite the victim not lodging a formal complaint, leading to the swift identification of the accused.

Speaking to reporters, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the businessman had allegedly been threatened by individuals claiming links with gangsters before shots were fired outside his establishment.
