Aizawl, Feb. 22 -- In a major crackdown along the Indo-Myanmar frontier, police in Mizoram's Champhai district have seized narcotics worth over Rs 31.06 crore and apprehended a Myanmar national allegedly involved in cross-border drug trafficking.
The seizure was made on Friday morning during routine foot patrol by personnel of Zokhawthar Police Station near the international boundary. Acting on suspicion, the patrol team intercepted avan bearing Aizawl district registration that had just entered Zokhawthar from the Myanmar side.
Police sources said the vehicle was driven by Zaena (52), a native of Lamzang village in Myanmar's Chin State, currently residing at Khawmawi in Myanmar, located opposite Zokhawthar. A meticulous search of the veh...
