Aizawl, March 11 -- The rapid rise of informal cross-border commerce along the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport (KMMTT) corridor drew concern in the Mizoram Assembly on Wednesday, with Chief Minister Lalduhoma cautioning that the situation could trigger social and administrative challenges if left unchecked.

Responding to issues raised in the House, Lalduhoma said large quantities of goods from Aizawland other parts of Mizoram are increasingly being transported towards the Myanmar border at Zochachhuah in Lawngtlai district, giving rise to a thriving but unregulated trading network with traders across the frontier.
