New Delhi, June 14 -- Three Great Indian Bustard chicks have hatched in Rajasthan under a conservation breeding programme, providing a boost to efforts to revive the population of the critically endangered bird species, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Sunday.
According to the officials from the Ministry, the chicks were born through a "jump-start" intervention, a conservation technique that involves collecting eggs from the wild and rearing chicks in a protected environment to improve survival rates, founder genetic diversity and reduce the risk of predation.
