Mumbai, Sept. 11 -- The Bombay High Court on Friday pulled up the Pune administration over its decision to impose a 10-day ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol during the Ganesh festival, questioning why Pune was singled out when similar restrictions were not imposed in other regions, including Mumbai.

A bench comprising Chief Justice M C Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna said it would intervene if the prohibition order was not withdrawn, observing that such an arbitrary restriction could stigmatise Pune and its residents.
