Khliehriat, June 2 -- Another body -- of a 41-year-old man -- was retrieved from an abandoned flooded coal mine in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Monday, an official said on Tuesday.
This is the second recovery of a body from an abandoned coal mine shaft in a month in East Jaintia Hills district.
According to the Senior Staff Officer of Civil Defence Home Guards, Paul H. Shylla, the body was successfully retrieved from a 120-feet deep abandoned coal mine near old Deputy Commissioner Office, Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District after a six-day long operation.
