Mumbai, July 14 -- The bodies of 15 Indian tourists who died in a tragic boat capsize off Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island were despatched from Mumbai on Tuesday to their respective hometowns, officials said.

The mortal remains had arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport aboard Vietnam Airlines flight VN979.

After completing the necessary formalities, the bodies were sent to destinations including Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore in coordination with the concerned state governments.

Family members of the victims are awaiting the arrival of the mortal remains to perform the last rites.
