Buenos Aires, June 3 -- Claudio Ubeda has been sacked as manager of Boca Juniors after less than eight months in charge, the Argentine club said.
The announcement followed a 1-0 home defeat to Chile's Universidad Catolica last Thursday,a result that eliminated the Buenos Aires side from the Copa Libertadores before the knockout stage.
Ubeda led the team to 17 wins, seven draws and eight losses after his appointment last October. Last month, Boca was eliminated from Argentina's Apertura tournament following a 3-2 homeloss to Huracan in the round of 16, according to Xinhua.
