Gorakhpur, Oct. 25 -- A boat carrying eight people capsized mid-river, leading to the death of a 14-year-old boy, while seven others were rescued by local villagers.
The accident occurred today in the Jhungaha police station area of Gorakhpur district, at the Karhi Ghat of the Gora River.
According to reports, the passengers were travelling from Karhi to Barhi when the boat lost control and overturned in the middle of the river.
Among the eight people on board were three children. The deceased, identified as Krishna Chaubey (14), son of Madnesh Chaubey, was a resident of Jogiya village. Krishna, who was travelling with his father, drowned in the deep waters while his father managed to survive.
