Mathura, April 10 -- A devastating accident occurred on Friday afternoon in Vrindavan when a steamer carrying around 30 tourists capsized in the Yamuna River, resulting in the death of 10 people. The victims include six women and four men, all tourists from Punjab who had come to visit the holy town. Some tourists are still missing, as rescue efforts continue.

The incident took place at approximately 2:45 PM near Kesi Ghat, located about 2.5 kilometers from the famous Banke Bihari Temple.

According to officials, the steamer lost balance amid strong winds while navigating the river and eventually collided with a temporary pontoon (Pipa) bridge before overturning.
