Jerusalem, Aug. 1 -- A Board of Peace official has clarified that the proposed Hamas disarmament agreement has not yet entered into force, turning back from earlier remarks suggesting that the process had already begun amid opposition from Israel.
The clarification came after the official told The Times of Israel on Thursday that the terror group's approval of the proposal had immediately triggered the first 14-day phase of the roadmap.
The official said that the agreement is yet to take effect but expressed hope that implementation could begin in the coming days.
