Mumbai, Feb. 22 -- In a novel initiative aimed at transforming unused urban spaces, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to cultivate vegetables and fruits beneath an airport flyover in Mumbai.

A senior civic official said the concept goes beyond routine beautification drives or the creation of jogging tracks, and instead seeks to establish a functional green ecosystem in the midst of the city's concrete landscape.

Under the proposal, the civic body will develop dedicated cultivation pits measuring approximately 6 feet by 3 feet. These plots will be offered to residents on an adoption basis.
