Bengaluru, May 25 -- Karnataka Police have arrested BJP Yuva Morcha leader and advocate BS Bharath in connection with an alleged rape case reported from Shivamogga district, police said on Monday.

The case was registered at the Paper Town Police Station in Bhadravati town after a 23-year-old woman accused the BJP youth leader of sexually assaulting and threatening her.

According to police, the accused had gone absconding after the complaint was lodged, prompting a manhunt. Acting on credible information, a police team traced him to a friend's residence in Bengaluru and arrested him late Sunday night.
