Pune, April 30 -- Amid growing complaints from traders in Pune city, BJP Traders' Wing President Mahesh Gupta has taken the initiative to submit a memorandum to the Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, demanding that traders be allowed to operate their businesses 24 hours a day in accordance with the law.

The memorandum highlighted that under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation) Act, 2017, along with the state government's circular dated October 1, 2025, establishments with valid licenses are legally permitted to remain open 24 hours. However, it raised serious concerns that, at some locations, unnecessary restrictions are being imposed on such lawful businesses at the local level.
