Srinagar, Aug. 11 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday suspended its Pulwama district president, Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi, with immediate effect following an FIR alleging extortion against him.
According to a suspension order issued by BJP J&K General Secretary Mohammad Anwar Khan, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Andrabi on the recommendations of the party's Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Advocate Sunil Sethi, and in consultation with BJP J&K president Sat Sharma.
The order stated that Andrabi has been suspended from all organisational posts and responsibilities, including the post of District President, Pulwama, pending finalisation of the disciplinary proceedings.
