Mumbai, Oct. 30 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Maharashtra unit spokesperson Navnath Ban escalated the controversy surrounding mandatory 'Vande Mataram' singing in schools today, by commenting that if Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi wants to oppose India's National Song, he should go to Pakistan.
Navnath Ban emphasised that 'Vande Mataram' is not a slogan of any political party, but a slogan representing the nation and patriotism. He described 'Vande Mataram' as a means of saluting the land where citizens live-India. According to Ban, anyone living in India must say 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' (Glory to Mother India).
Ban also suggested that if Azmi has an "allergy" to these national slogans, he should "happily go to Pakis...
