Mysuru, Aug. 28 -- Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa today accused the ruling Congress party of politicising religious and cultural matters, taking strong exception to the decision to invite author Banu Mushtaq alone for the inauguration of Dasara festivities, while allegedly sidelining writer Deepa Basti, and the handling of the ongoing Dharmasthala controversy.
Vijayendra said the Congress government's actions and statements have hurt the sentiments of crores of devotees and constitute a direct insult to Hindu customs and traditions.
