Ranchi, April 1 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged that the law and order situation in Jharkhand had deteriorated and accused the Hemant Soren government of failing to control crime in the state.

Addressing a press conference at the party's state headquarters here, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo claimed that crime had risen sharply during the present government's tenure and alleged that people were feeling insecure.

Citing figures which he said were based on data available on the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and Jharkhand Police website, Shah Deo claimed that between January 2020 and January 2026, the state had recorded 10,113 rape cases, over 11,000 kidnapping cases, more than 60,000 thefts, 9,213 mu...
