Bengaluru, Aug. 19 -- BJP MLA Yashpal Suvarna came under sharp scrutiny in the Karnataka Legislative Council on Wednesday after Congress MLC BK Hariprasad linked him to alleged multi-crore loan fraud at Udupi's Mahalaxmi Cooperative Bank and the suspicious death of its branch manager, and demanded an SIT probe into the entire episode.
Raising the issue during the Council proceedings, Hariprasad alleged that more than Rs 25 crore had been illegally raised through loans by misusing documents of beneficiaries and claimed that local political figures were behind the irregularities.
