Patna, Aug. 4 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) today claimed that the victory of Jan Suraaj Party candidate Prashant Kishor in the Bankipur Assembly by-election indicates a significant erosion in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) support base in Bihar.
CPI state secretary Ram Naresh Pandey said here the BJP had failed to retain the Assembly seat represented by its national president.
He alleged that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has suffered defeats in two successive by-elections since the formation of the BJP-led government in Bihar.
