Bengaluru, March 7 -- Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Saturday termed the Karnataka Budget for 2026-27 as "disappointing" and criticised the government's proposal to restrict mobile phone or social media usage for children below 16 years, saying the announcement lacked planning and clarity.

Reacting to the budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday, Narayan said the financial statement lacked clear priorities and direction for the state's development.

"It is a disappointing and retrograde budget. It is a let-down. There are no priorities," he said, adding that the only notable aspect was that it marked the 17th budget presented by the Chief Minister.
